Welcome to Thidwick Kennels, home of top ranked show and obedience Dalmatians for more than twenty years. We are not a high-volume breeder. We breed a litter of puppies occasionally for the purpose of improving the breed and proving our stock is worthy of being bred by winning in the conformation and obedience ring. All our dams are AKC champions or obedience titled and the same is true for the studs we choose. Our top producing dam has both conformation and obedience titles (Championship and Companion Dog Excellent). Each breeding is evaluated for prospective attributes of health, temperament, and structure. Necessary health tests are conducted prior to a breeding (hearing, hips, and complete blood workup). After the litter has arrived there is dew claw removal, deworming, and vaccinations. We photograph and videotape each puppy to aid in our evaluation. All puppies are B.A.E.R (brainstem auditory evoked response) hearing tested prior to going into their new homes as all Dalmatian puppies should be. These tests are the sign of a serious, responsible breeder. Use it as your guide to finding the breeder of your perfect pup.

Every litter has been whelped in my home, right here in my office, where I can observe their development. They are handled, petted, stimulated by home environment sights, sounds and smells to prepare them for their new life as a home companion or show contestant. Not every puppy is a show puppy but many of our show quality puppies have lived out their lives as loving, home companions without ever seeing the inside of a show ring. Puppies placed as pets are required to be spayed or neutered. They are not for breeding but for loving. We encourage each puppy family to participate in a Puppy Kindergarten or Basic Obedience class. With training and socialization your Dalmatian puppy will become a valued family member and source of pride.

Our Kennel

Most breeders choose a family name to distinguish their show dogs from others. We chose THIDWICK because it sounded Old English and loosely translates to 'that farm'. We also learned of "Thidwick the Big Hearted Moose" a Dr Seuss character. We thought this fit our dogs exactly - sweet dogs with big hearts.

We acquired our first Dalmatian in 1967 and have enjoyed the company of this breed ever since. Our first homebred Champion finished her title in 1986. She was Ch Cardhill Thidwick Cleopatra CD and all our dogs come down from Cleo.
